Assigned to 336FS, 4FG, 8AF USAAF. Failed to Return (FTR) bombing mission to Rouen area. Hit by flak in engine attempting to bomb train in ravine, engine oil spilling from nose to tail. A/C P-51B 42-103332 abandoned Lyons area. 1st Lt Lajeunesse baled out. 6-Jun-44. MACR 5610. Evaded with the assistance of French resistance for 3 months till liberated by Canadian forces. EVD.
He was later transferred to Mitchell Field, New York.
Awards: AM, WWII Victory.
Post-war: Retired from USAF in 1965 at the rank of Major having served in Korea. Also a fireman in Worcester, MA.
