Assigned to the 545th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), per Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho, Special Orders #70 dated 11 March 1943.  Norman Gauntt was Co-Pilot on B-17 #42-3235 "Lakanuki" shot down 4 July 1943 over France. Killed in Action (KIA).
