Montimore C Schwayder MD
MilitaryDr Monty - as his colleagues and patients called him - served with the 66th FW throughout their time in Europe. Born in San Francisco in 1912 he died in Denver in 1996, leaving behind him a record of medical achievement primarily as a surgeon. He played a key role in establishing Stanbridge Earls as the 8th AAF's first 'flak house' where battle-weary aviators could go for complete relaxation and medical help. He was leader of the Duxford-based Thunderbolts Dance Band in which he played second saxaphone.
