Lester Jerome Yearous

He flew on John G. Davis crew. Arrived in England on 23 May 1944 and departed 07 Dec 1944.
Jerome helped on the family farm before he enlisted. Originally selected for pilot training he was then rejected on medical grounds and trained as a gunner/mechanic. Assigned to Sioux City Air Base for ground maintenance he was overnight substituted for air crew who had gone sick and flew over on a B-17. He was to fly on 28 combat missions from Thurleigh, the first June 15 1944, his last on his birthday November 16th. He returned to the USA then supervised maintenance on the B-29's at Muroc Filed CA until his discharge September 28 1945. He was afterwards an real estate broker.
