Menzie was assigned to the 100th Bomb Group in July 1943. He was then transferred to the 482nd Bomb Group on 7 October 1943.



Menzie ultimately served 20 years in the Air Force and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He served in Strategic Air Command with the 509th Bomb Wing for much of his post war career, flying the B-29 and B-50 Superfortresses and B-47 Stratojet.
