Edwards' mother Julia Caddel (Cadell) Edwards Barnes received a telegram informing her that he was MIA
Edwards' father was Milton C Edwards a veteran of the First World War. Edwards' grandfather Michael Caddell was from Dublin, Ireland and served as a Sergeant in the Union Army during the Civil War.
