Navigator, Jones crew. 381st BG, 535th BS, 8th AF. On 24 July 1943, B-17 #42-3217 "Georgia Rebel" crashed in Vannacka, Sweden. Mission #11 to the chemical factories (Magnesium, Aluminum) in Heroya, Norway. MACR 132. Hit by flak, bombs dropped, #2 engine feathered with bent prop, hole in port wing near fuel tanks, leaking fuel, #3 engine smoking and lost oil pressure. Interned. First US bomber interned in Sweden. Flew in place of Lt Leonard Spivey, original navigator on Lt Disbrow crew of the "Chug-a-Lug Lulu". Returned to England November 22, 1943.

Shot down 28 April 1944 in B-17 #42-38061 'Georgia Rebel II. ' Mission #101. Henslin Crew. Killed in Action (KIA). Buried in Rhone AMC. Plot A, Row 5, Grave 13.
