Trained with the 398th BG, 602BS; 398th BG prepared for combat with B-17's, but interrupted these activities from Jul to Dec 1943 to train replacement crews for other organizations. Completed 30 missions with 8th AF. 1 December 1943 on return from mission to Solingen, severe turbulence over England forced the crew to bale out near Lasham in B-17 #42-30714 'Hustling Sue' piloted by CPT. George Reese. 1 KOM 9 RTD. Caterpillar Club.
Completed 9 missions with 6th BG 39th BS, 20th AF operating from Tinian. Reported Missing in Action (MIA) on raid over Tokyo 25/26 May 1945.
