SSgt James H. Altizer was a B-24 gunner. He flew on Operation Tidal Wave, on the B-24D, Little Lady, over Ploesti and was interned in Turkey and was released a short time later. INT-TURK. 1 Aug 1943.
On another occasion, he abandoned his airplane, the B-24J, 42-110236, on a mission to the aircraft factory at Gotha, Germany, due to a fuel leak, and crashed in the woods at Bad Kissinger District, Bavaria, Germany. POW. 24 Feb 1944
