James D Baird

James D. Baird enlisted in the Army Air Corps on 15 Mar 1941 at MacDill Field in Florida before the US entered WWII. He flew 24 missions with the 91st Bomb Group before being promoted to Captain. Baird transferred to the 92nd Bomb Group on August 4, 1943, where he flew PFF - Pathfinder B-17s. In some records he is credited with one mission aboard A/C 42-30793, but he was never officially assigned to the 388th.
