James Arthur Bonner was born in California in 1917 to Edward and Agnes Bonner. He had a brother John Bonner who also served during WW II. He enlisted in the Army in 1941, and was commissioned an officer in 1943, going through combat training in Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1943-1944. He was assigned to the 340th bomb group, 570 Bomber Squadron, and flew several missions before being Shot down by flak and crashing at Dreux on 6/22/44 in B-17 'Sequatchiee' Prisoner of War (POW)
