Jack E Nosser

Military

Shot down 10 October 1943 in B-17 #42-5915 'Cash & Carrie'. Crash landed in Germany, evaded into Holland and there was betrayed by Dutch civilians. Sent to Stalag Luft III. Escaped Moosburg April 1945 and reached American Forces north of the Danube. Prisoner of War (POW) then Escaped & Evaded (EVD). Nosser had - on graduating high school -initially joined the Navy; his last ship being the USS West Virginia which was sunk at Pearl Harbour. He left the Navy in October 1941 and enlisted in the Air Corps April 1942.

Post war he studied at the University of Southern California then was recalled for the Korean conflict and attached to a B-29 Reconnaissance Wing - secretly dreading the thought of becoming a POW again. He spent many years working with the Southern California Gas Company.
