The shell cut through the nose and passed out the left side of the ship where torn skin shows. The Bombardier and Navigator had just left the nose on the order of the pilot who warned them about the danger of a windmilling propeller flying off and cutting through the nose. On 11-Jan-44, B-17 42-39775 'Frenesi' was hit by fighters causing damage to the radio room and six crewman bailed out before the a/c was brought under control and returned to base. RTD.



Awards: DFC (OLC), AM (4OLC), WWII Victory, EAME, UN and Korean medal.



Post War: Pilot- served in Korean war.

He was co-pilot with Pilot William Cely. He was then checked out by Cely and given his own plane, Eski. During Korea he flew reconnaissance and separated from the service with the rank of Captain. He died suddenly at 42 on Aug. 11, 1964 leaving behind a wife, Natalie, and children, including a 6 week old baby girl.
