Description: FIGHTER ESCORT

Notes: The mix of 697 aircraft from 8th Air Force and 9th Air Force provided escort: 127 p-38s; 438 P-47s; 131 P-51s. IX Fighter Command provided 84 aircraft to the mix. Claims are bundled for both VIII and IX Fighter Command's and were all accredited to P-51 Fighter Groups. Losses are all from 8th Air Force Fighter Groups. These groups encountered approximately 100 enemy fighters.
