IMAGEA bomber crew of the 94th Bomb Group with their B-17 Flying Fortress nicknamed "Bad Penny" at Bury St. Edmunds (Rougham) after a raid over Kiel on the 14 June 1943. Handwritten caption on reverse: '94BG - Photographed Rougham.' Printed caption on reverse: 'An epic battle of the skies took place when Flying Fortresses made their recent raid on Kiel. Squadrons of German suicide fighters attacked, scores of which were shot down. These pictures taken at a U.S. Air Force Station[sic] show some of the members of a Bomber [Caption says Wing, but this has been struck out by the censor and replaced with something obscured by a sticker] which bore the brunt of the attack by the fighters. 14/6/43.' Rest of printed caption damaged and removed from reverse of print. On reverse: Daily Sketch, US Army General Section Press & Censorship Bureau and US Army ETO Press Censor [Stamps].
