A B-26 Marauder (serial number 41-35000) nicknamed "Swamp Chicken" of the 323rd Bomb Group in flight with the starboard (right) engine shot away, and as a wreckage in northern France. [censor no.] Printed caption on reverse: 'Early in February, the Ninth Air Force B-26 Marauder medium bomber in the upper half of this photograph received a direct flak hit which cut off its right engine after an attacks on a military installation in northern France. Despite the loss of 2000 horsepower engine, the unbalance created by he loss of 2500 pounds from the right wing, and broken fuel lines spraying gasoline to create a fire hazard, the Marauder made a successful crash landing (bottom picture) somewhere in France. Photo reconnaissance gounf the lost Marauder in tact expect for the engine, near a Nazi four-gun flak battery. [obscured be censor].'
