Two B-26 Marauders ('31', serial number 43-34564 in front; '33' in back) of the 319th Bomb Group fly away from the growing smoke clouds from attacked German military installations forming part of the Siegfried Line in the town of Erlenbach in Germany. Printed caption on reverse: '56797 AC - Striking in serial cooperation with the 7th Army offensive into the Saar Palatinate, American Martin B-26 Marauders of the 1st TAC AF leave gushing clouds of smoke hovering over the German town of Erlenbach, an enemy strong point in the Siegfried defense system guarding the approaches to Pirmasens and Landau. Six miles northwest of Wissembourg, bomb pattern from four waves of the medium bombers covered military installations and buildings, cut the main road through the town, and almost completely destroyed the town and defense area.
