US Airmen salute as they raise the Stars and Stripes during a ceremony to celebrate the transfer of a British airfield in 8th Air Force Service Command control. One of the many repair depots in the United Kingdon was formally transferred to the United States VIII Air Force Service Command's somewhere in the North of England. This station which has been under the contorl of the Ministry of Aircraft Production, was turned over to the United States forces by Air Vice Marshal Weedon, and was accepted by Major General Henry F Miller, of Miami, Florida, commanding general of the VII Air Force Service Command. This station has been used by American troops for some time and until a short time ago many British civilians were working side by side with Americans in the repair of airplanes and airplane accessories. with the arrival of American triips the British civilians are freed for other vital work.
