A 387th Bomb Squadron, 312th Bomb Group, 5th Air Force A-20 Havoc flies above the plume of debris and water caused by another A-20 Havoc of its squadron diving into the sea immediately below it. Both aircraft were operating near the Japanese base of Kokas on the Bay of Sekar in the Dutch New Guinea on the 22nd of July 1944 when one of them was fatally damaged by Japanese attacks. The aircraft's crew, Lieutenant James L. Knarr and Staff Sergeant Charles C. Reichly, were killed in the crash. Handwritten caption on reverse: 'C 53686 - Kokas, Dutch New Guinea.
