"First Front" American fighters in Europe are the members of the US Army Air Corps Fighter Groups now operating from their stations in England. The picture was taken at the Headquarters of an already famous American Army group which flies British "Spitfires", beating off enemy attacks or escorting bombers (maybe their own "Fortresses") on raids far into enemy-occupied Europe.
