This, albeit rather grusome picture is after Earl Green was transported to a Danish hospital. He was a 20 year old radio operator and the only injury on his aircraft. They wouldn't take him into the hospital at first as they thought the piece of flak in his leg was a live round. They operated on him outdoors in case it detonated He spent four months in the hospital and the Danes were saviors. He likely kept his leg because of them
