Portrait of Odette Maujean and her four children c. July 1944. This picture was given to John Snede by Odette Maujean in July 1944, on the night he left her house in Tavaux -et-Pontséricourt to hide with the nearby woods with the local French Maquis resistance group. She wrote on the back ‘In memory of July 44. With our best remembrance and the kisses of our children, Pierre and Odette.’ During the month Odette sheltered John and his crewmate Albert Willard, Odette's children shared a single bed, so each airman had a place to sleep.
