H.M.S. Dark Water. A British mine sweeper that heard the Feb 17, 1945 crash of the B24 "Blood and Guts" into the channel. They rescued all four of the men who had parachuted out. The remaining crew members did not have a chance to jump prior to the crash. Charles Minor Frank was the last man pulled from the water after floating 30 min. A British soldier dove into the icy water to hold Charlie's head above water as Charlie was losing consciousness. My father never knew this British soldier's name and wished he did so he could thank him. I do too.
