Second (of three) crews of "Ida Wanna," circa 1944. 22 year-old pilot Cyril "Joe" Stock is at the far-left in the rear. On a mission in December '44, Ida Wanna lost both starboard engines to flak coming off their bomb run. Stock had the crew toss every piece of equipment (inc the .50s & ammo, I believe) then nursed Ida Wanna across occupied airspace & the channel on the two port engines before making an emergency landing at an RAF fighter base a few miles inland.
