In my collection I have another (well-known) picture which was an official 1944 Press release. The airfield in these pictures is the subject of my research. These aircraft are flying from the SSW (south south west) to the NNE (north north east) over the airfield. You can spot the village of Marssum just above the US national insignia on the wing of the aircraft closest to the camera.

I studied this photograph and could not recognize the second aircraft in the picture as being AN-Y" (of the 386th BG). In fact this other aircraft is FW-K, also of the 387th BG. This is in accordance with the mission details provided by a relative of a crew member on FW-F and the info found on www dot B26 dot com backs this up as well. FW-K was aircraft 41-31679 at that time.
