Lt. Delao, met Lila Steinger in New York city after finally returning after a long recovery in RAF & US military hospitals. They married in May, 1945 and returned to his hometown of San Antonio, Texas- where they lived fir 72 years, and raised three daughters . Following the war, Peter began his career in civil service for US Department of Defense at Kelly AFB in San Antonio until he retired in 1980. He was instrumental in the development of the Galaxy C5A aircraft, still in use today.
