Found in a letter sent by John Bob Marshall to his brother J.H. Marshall, postmarked from Topeka Kansas 14 Dec 1943. He mentions in the letter that they will be shipping out soon (in fact, records show they had already left by that date--mail was probably delayed to foil "loose lips"). The plane went into service 19 Oct 1943, so this photo was taken late Oct to early Nov of that year. The current historian of the 449th Bomber Group confirms that the crew members were: (Standing, L to R): John R. Marshall (Co-Pilot); Alfred C. Morton (Pilot); Felix C. Forshage (Navigator); James W. Campbell (Bombardier). Kneeling (L to R): Billy Walter (Flight Engineer); Gillman C. Allen (Waist Gunner); James Shanahan (Waist Gunner); Eulalio B. Lobato (Radio Operator / Nose Gunner); Frances J. Herres (Tail Gunner); Clement Godiez (Ball Turret Gunner)
