"Extending from one end of the target to the other, a blanket of bursting bombs sends up turbulent smoke and flame at the rail marshalling yards in Epinal, near the Swiss-German border. This attack on 23 May 1944 by heavies of the U.S. 8th AAF unleashed heavy concentrations on repair shops, station sidings and locomotive sheds."
