"Buckingham Palace, London England - 1st Lt Roy Ellis-Brown 29 of 57 Gerdner St Hamilton, Mass was recently invested with the British DFC. Ellis-Brown was awarded this decoration for extraordinary achievement in combat when he piloted Stirling and Lancaster bombers in fifty four raids over Nazi Europe. While a yank in the RAF Roy was one of the first Americans to participate in the bombing of Berlin. Last year he transferred from the RAF to the USAAF and was commissioned as a 1st Lt he is now a pilot in an air transport squadron of the ferry and transport service flying giant Consolidated B-24 Liberator cargo planes. Although born in Sioux City, IA he calls Hamilton, Mass his hometown where his parents reside. Present at the decoration and ceremony was his charming English wife, the former Pamela de Gray."
