William Ross Hornsby Jr. with his aircraft Darlin Presh of the 111th Tactical Recon Squadron. Aircraft serial number 42-103199.Finished with 2 confirmed kills and 1 damaged. The last on August 18th 1944 when he shot up an HE111 at Valence France and damaged a JU52. The plane he flew that day serial number 42-103415 was damaged by flak. He flew south and had to invert and bail out at a scant 300 feet over Le Piboulette France. Landing safely but injured he made it back across enemy lines with the help of locals and the French Resistance after being MIA for many days.
