War Weary P-51B 43-6593 WZ-S_ 84FS, 78FG 8AF. Used by the 78FG as a transition A/C from their P-47's. Ended up on its nose in a landing accident 10-Apr-44 at Duxford in the hands of Lt Maurice J Ryan Jr, bending both the starboard U/C and the outer wing panel. Stripped of spares and scrapped.

A two- seat P-51 Mustang (WZ-S_, serial number 43-6953, "War Weary") used as a hack plane by the 78th Fighter Group at Duxford. Handwritten on reverse: 'Quite Obvious, 2 seater P-51. Stoker [sp?] said this fabrication was a real challenge. Something about removing a gas tank, etc. etc. etc.'
