Major Walter C Beckham of the 351st Ftr Sq, 353rd FG with his P-47D "Little Demon II" (42-75226), shortly after his 18th - and final - aerial victory. A week later, he would be knocked down by flak on 22 February 1944 over Ostheim, and would remain a guest of the Luftwaffe for the duration of the war in Europe. NARA Ref 3A11484-3A12647.
