Nose art of "Tempest Turner", named in honor of Hollywood film star Lana Turner by Gunner Sgt Milton Elder of 493rd Bomb Group/862nd Bomb Squadron (member of the John I. Lewis crew). As a civilian, Elder worked as a cameraman for MGM and knew the actress. "Tempest Turner" was later transferred to the 34th BG/18th BS at Mendlesham. (Official USSAF photo)
