IMAGEWhen this Douglas A-20 Havoc light bomber of the 9th USAAF was hit by flak over enemy territory the concussion of the anti-aircraft blast lifted the plane momentarily out of the photographer's field of vision. Then he caught this photograph showing wreckage of the tail section hurtling trough the air. Note the plane's rudder in inverted position between the left engine and fuselage. Other pieces of wreckage are evident among black dots of flak which continue to bust around the stricken plane. Its tail section severed, the plane went down.
