Lt. William C. Boucek, seen here on his P-51D 44-15164 PI-P "Enola/Luscious Lu" of the 360th FS, 356th FG, had previously completed 35 missions without an abort as a B-24 pilot with the 753rd BS, 458th BG. Lt. Boucek would be killed on a routine test hop of his Mustang on 30 June 1945, when the port wing of his aircraft separated in flight over RAF Bentwaters. He successfully exited the aircraft but his parachute opened too late to slow his descent.
