Lt. Walt Foster leaving his Nissen hut (building 498 on the Earls Colne Site Plan), The Black Hole of Calcutta, for a mission briefing on March 31, 1944. It was the only snow of winter. The photograph may have been taken by fellow hut-mates, Lt. Stirneman or Lt. Rush, who were killed in action in separate incidents a few weeks later.
