IMAGEL to R: S/Sgt Larry Matson - WG; S/Sgt Darrell Latch - G; 2LT Walt Cline - N; CPT Sam Evans - P (under cockpit); ground officer (back to camera). Port engine feathered -- out of fuel. On returning from a mission over Eisenach, Germany, on 20 Jul 1944, the A/C encountered much air turbulence and used up most of its fuel. Upon landing, the nose wheel refused to descend. CPT Evans managed to land the ship with insignificant or no damage.
