IMAGE368th FS two seat P-51B-1-NA 43-12478 photographed at East Wretham 18 Dec 1944. Declared War Weary and relegated to training duties, the fighter remained armed following unit level conversion to 2 seater - note the tape covered gun ports and gunsight in the cockpit. A Malcolm hood topped off this professional conversion. She was used by Capt Andrew T Lemmens to fly Lt Col Grady L Smith to Cambrai, France 13th March 1945 on a scouting mission for bases to move the unit to in France or Belgium, a move which never transpired.
