Crash site of B-17 Flying Fortress, serial number 42-31768 nicknamed “Miss Carriage”, shot down on April 24, 1944. The bombardier was Lieutenant John R. Pedevillano. His son-in-law, William Vucci writes: 'Note the Nazi’s rummaging through the wreckage looking for intelligence, like the Nordic Bomb Sight. At the time of this photo, most of John’s crew were captured. John remained at large, lasting about a week evading capture by the Nazi’s, until finally caught and interred at Stalag Luft-3 Prison Camp.'
