2LT Robert L. Garrett Pilot - Crew #515 466thBG - 785th BS Garrett was involved in a mid-air collision on 23 March 1944 on both his and the 466th BG's 2nd mission. He successfully bailed out and evaded capture, hiding out with the Bourdouche family in Queue-du-Bois, Belgium. He was accidently and tragically killed when a stray German bullet entered the home and killed him instantly. The American Army was a few hours from liberating the farm where he was hiding.
