Arthur J. Morges Mr. Morges was a Sergeant in the Army Air Force during WWII from Feb. 3, 1944 through May 18, 1946, serving as a Radio Operator/Mechanic Gunner in a B-17 in the 379th Bombardment Group operating from Army Air Force Station 117 at Kimbolton Field, about 50 miles north of London in Huntingdonshire near the historic village of Kimbolton. The 379th Bombardment Group was the only unit ever awarded the 8th Air Force Grand Slam, a very unique honor in recognition of its achievements. They also received two Presidential Unit Citations. The 379th flew its last combat mission on April 25, 1945, and was finally deactivated on July 25, 1945. Arthur completed six missions over enemy territory in France, Germany and Czechoslovakia, and received the American Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He also received a Citation for Conspicuous Service from the then-governor of New York, Thomas E. Dewey.
