Col. Glenn E Duncan named his first P-47 "Winged Death" but was ordered to change it by the higher brass, so he sarcastically renamed it "Dove of Peace". He had a series of planes carrying the name: "Dove of Peace IV" P-47D-5-RE Thunderbolt (s/n 42-8634) "Dove of Peace V" P-47D-2-RE Thunderbolt (s/n 42-7988), "Dove of Peace VI" P-47D-21-RE Thunderbolt (s/n 42-25506) "Dove of Peace VII" P-47D-22-RE Thunderbolt (s/n 42-25971), "Dove of Peace VIII" P-51D-25-NA Mustang (s/n 44-73060).
