Hubert Zemke, later commanding officer of the 56th Fighter Group, as a flying school cadet in 1937. Zemke has handwritten on the reverse: 'Flying Cadet Hub Zemke poses in summer flying outfit with a parachute over his shoulder prior to take off at Kelly Field, Texass, Jan 1937. The aircraft in the background is a P-12E used to train fighter pilots in the advanced (final 3 months) flying school class. There were only 6 cadets in the Pursuit (fighter section) of this graduating class of 32.'
