Colonel Philip G Cochran of the 33rd Fighter Group, 12th Air Force. Colonel Hubert Zemke (classmate and commander of the 56th Fighter Group) has handwritten on the reverse: 'Col Philip G Cochran, never a member of the 56th but a classmate in the flying school and with the 8th Persuit Group at Langley Field, New Port, Va, Pre WWII. Went with the 33rd Fitr Group in North Africa for the push from Morocco to Tunisia. Later assisted and [illegible] the 1st Air Commando Wing, which assited the British Gen Wingate in the guerilla warfare in Burma. A daring tactician and personell officer, he starred in the famous comic strip- Terry and the Pilot- Home , PA (Newdeal).'
