Tail chequer orange/yellow & black 10" squares/wing tip. "52" (fuselage code) black (867 was black). Two victory markings: black swastika on white background with two black concentric circles around each. From May 29th to Aug 9th 1944. Has escort on first shuttle raid, Jun 2 1944 Italy through to Russia. Port side crew legend in black on N/M: Pilot: Lt Col CL Sluder, In black on N/M Crew: S/Sgt LC Meisenheimer, Arm: Sgt EM Kunde, SGT WC Nixon.'

Second World War formation badge for the United States 15th Air Force (United States Army Air Force). The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved by the US Quartermaster General on 19 February 1944. Formation note: the 15th Air Force (US Army Air Force, Fifteenth Air Force) was formed on 1 November 1943 at Tunis in North Africa and moved to Italy on 1 December.
