P-47 Thunderbolts of the 56th Fighter Group fly in formation, 10 March 1943. Passed for publication 11 Mar 1943. Printed caption on reverse: 'Newest U.S. High Altitude Fighter Now In Service In Britain. The P-47 (Thunderbolt), a single-enged high-altitude fash fighter in quantity production for the U.S.A.A.F. is now in service with American Fighter Squadrons in England. One of the newer type of U.S. Fighter Aircraft, it is equipped with a 2000 h.p. engine anda four-bladed automatic control propeller. It can fly at over 400 m.p.h. New York Times Photo Shows:- P-47 Thunderbolts in flight from their English base. Neg No. F. 9903 XCD. 10.3.43.'
