Ground personnel of the 355th Fighter Group inspect the wrecks of B-17 42-37911 and several P-51 Mustangs at Steeple Morden, 1 January 1945. B-17 42-37911 had suffered damage over Kassel, Germany, and the resulting engine trouble caused the aircraft to crash land at Steeple Morden. Unfortunately the aircraft collided with P-51s at dispersal, the aircraft exploded and all 10 of the crew were killed. Handwritten caption on reverse: '355 1/1/45.'
