Revisions
My father, 2nd Lieutenant, George W. Freas, service number 0-751117, served as co-pilot with Wesley Huckins, in the 711th. His name is misspelled in this record as "Preas" -- It is "Freas."
I have original documents and photographs of my father with his crew. This crew was shot down on March 16, 1944, en route to their mission to Augsburg, Germany. My father was originally declared dead, but had been sheltered by the French Resistance. He was turned in by a double agent and sent to concentration camp, and eventually to a POW camp, Stalag Luft I, in September, 1944. I have his Stalag dog tags and other artifacts.
My father died on September 13, 2010.
