Constituted 14th Observation Squadron (Light) on 5 Feb 1942. Activated on 2 Mar 1942. Redesignated 14th Observation Squadron on 4 Jul 1942. Redesignated 14th Liaison Squadron on 2 Apr 1943. Inactivated on 25 Mar 1949.



Operations: 1942 until early 1944: Supported US Army maneuvers by flying photo and tactical observation missions; April 1944: Arrived in UK at Alderley Edge, Cranage. July 6, 1944: Deployed to Nehou, France with 32 L-5s and 2 UC-78s. Provided courier, observation, mail, officer transport, and other liaison services in support of the US Third Army advance through France and Germany; Nov 1944: delivered medical supplies, food, and ammunition to a battalion stranded on the east side of the flooded Moselle River; Dec 1944-Jan 1945: Supported the Third Army during the Battle of the Bulge; Apr 1945: Flew limited medical evacuation in L-5B aircraft; May 1945 to March 1949: supported the US occupying forces in Germany.
