William L Lohmann

Military

After 2 years of college in Ohio, William Lohrmann enlisted in the Air Corps in April 1942. After following aerial navigation training, he was sent overseas and assigned to the 95th Bomb Group/412th Bomb Squadron.

Shot down 30 November 1943 in B-17 #42-3317 'The Spirit of '76'. Other crew members saw him bailing out. Mentioned as having fallen into the River Maas in the Roermond area in Holland. His body was discovered on 21 July 1944 on the banks of the River Maas in Kessel, 15 km NE of Roermond, The Netherlands. Killed in Action (KIA).
